General Information 5K

PREMIUM PARTICIPANT AMENITIES AND PACKET PICKUP

All registered race participants will receive the Regions Superhero 5K official race packet including the official Regions Superhero 5K technical running shirt and a finishers medal at the finish line. Race packets, along with race numbers and timing devices, can be picked up during the Expo/Packet Pick Up on Friday, February 9th from 12 noon - 7 p.m. The Expo will be held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) East Ballroom. It is located on street level next to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.  You can register at the Expo as well on Friday, February 9th (registration fee at the Expo and on race day is $40). If you wait until Saturday to pick up your race bag or to register, DO NOT COME TO EXPO.  Race Day registration and packet pickup will be held on the arena floor in Boutwell Auditorium. It begins at 6:00 a.m. and will end PROMPTLY at 7:30 a.m. - so get there early!! To avoid any delays or problems, we highly encourage you to register early and pick up your packets during the Expo. Shirts are guaranteed for the first 1700 registrants.

Every participant must pick up their own race packet with a Photo Id and your race number.  We do not offer Multiple packet pickup this year.  You may pick up your 18 year old or younger child's race packet. 

RUN/WALK POLICY

The Regions Superhero 5K is open to runners and walkers of all abilities. There is no age limit. Minors must have a legal parent or legal guardian sign the entry form to be eligible. Due to insurance regulations, unregistered runners, unauthorized vehicles, baby joggers, inline skates, bicycles, skateboards and other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited on the courses. Pets and smoking, including cigars, are also prohibited. Any participant breaking one of these rules will be removed from the course and disqualified. There is a 1 hour time limit on the Regions Superhero 5K.  If you need training to walk or run our 5k, visit our training page.

TIMING

Winners of the Regions Superhero 5K race will be determined by official race timing devices that are with your race packet. Be aware that timing devices are not guaranteed to be available for race day registration, but are not required to participate. Official timing for the 5K is based on Gun Time for Overall Awards and Chip Time for Age Group Awards. Overall awards will include top three male and female and top male and female master runners. Age group awards are 3 deep in each age group and each gender as follows: 8 & Under, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, Female - 70 & Above, Male-70-74 and 75 & Above. The Regions Superhero 5K Awards Ceremony will take place about 9:30 a.m. in the BJCC East Meeting Rooms right next to the East Ballroom where Expo is held. Keep in mind that we do not mail awards so if you think you’ve won an award you will need to make plans to stick around and pick it up.

All Regions Superhero 5K finishers will receive a Superhero medal when you cross the finish line!  You must be present at the event and finish the race to receive a medal.  

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Go Green and register online through www.runsignup.com. It's the best way to sign up and your registration is immediate. If you must, you can print off a registration form from the home page of this web site. Please be aware of the mailing deadlines. If you miss the deadlines, you can register at the Expo on Friday, February 9th or on race morning from 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. on the arena floor in Boutwell Auditorium.

Due to the upfront nature of event costs, we have a uniform policy of no refunds, transfers or deferrals to a future year. We know that plans change and unexpected things come up, but we feel it is most fair to apply a uniform policy to all, instead of an arbitrary line of who merits a refund and who doesn't.
